Fabric Tech Info
We sew our Jackets, Vests & Hats using engineered fabrics which offer a combination of weather protection, durability, comfort and breathability.
These Hi-Tech laminated fabrics include 2 types: Softshell fabric and Windblock Fleece. When viewing our products, you'll also see a 3rd fabric description called "Hybrid", which indicates that item is a combination of Softshell fabric & Windblock Fleece.
Our Hi-Tech Fabrics employ a strategic system of layers, with 2 different fabrics (the interior and exterior layers) bonded together by a hidden 3rd layer; the weather-resistant membrane. Sandwiched between the inner and outer layers of fabric, this highly water-resistant/breathable membrane is the key player. In Softshell fabrics, this membrane is engineered to block 98% of the wind, while still allowing 2% of air to pass through for ventilation. In Windblock Fleece fabrics, the membrane provides a 100% windproof barrier for maximum warmth.
In addition, the outer-faces of both Softshells and Windblock Fleece fabrics are treated with DWR (durable water-repellant finish) to help shed rain & snow.

Our Softshell and Windblock Fleece fabrics are highly water-resistant and do an amazing job keeping you warm and dry, although in a downpour they are not completely waterproof. But keep in mind, Copper River Fleece's hometown of Cordova, Alaska is right in the middle of a coastal rainforest, and throughout our 25 years in business, staying warm & dry is something we've specialized in!
