About Us
Copper River Fleece was born and raised in Cordova, a charming coastal Alaskan fishing village surrounded by mountains, rivers, glaciers and all their diverse inhabitants. It's also where we created our very first garment in 1995, and where we look forward to meeting you on your next trip to Alaska!
Inspired by the beauty of our spectacular surroundings, we developed our garment designs through the input and feedback of the local community. Thanks to the hikers, skiers, fisherman, kayakers, and the rest of our supporters who wore our garments and kindly shared their feedback and ideas with us, our products have evolved to reflect the uniqueness and diversity of this vibrant Copper River region.
We are proudly 100% Sewn in the USA! Dedication to quality and commitment to customer satisfaction have remained our trademarks from day one. We sew many of our garments using hi-tech softshell and windblocking fleece fabrics, specifically engineered for warmth, comfort, breathability and durability. Technology has pushed the development of "fleece" to the wide spectrum of hi-tech laminated fabrics now available, allowing us to design garments to match a wide range of applications, spanning everything from the extreme weather conditions we face in Alaska to a dressy night out on the town. YKK zippers are used exclusively, so your garment will always be easy to zip on or off for many years to come.
As a home-grown Cordova, Alaska company, Copper River Fleece pays tribute to our origins by incorporating Alaska’s rich wealth of cultures, fascinating history and incredible array of flora and fauna into our signature trim designs. Commissioned by local artists, this artwork is featured in our trims which are available exclusively on Copper River Fleece garments and accessories. Our trims include designs featuring ancestral Tlingit totems, wild salmon (the essence of Cordova’s very spirit!) and bear tracks, as well as many of Alaska’s intriguing species of birds and mammals. Several of our trademark trims feature Tlingit and Haida artwork, which were designed for Copper River Fleece by renowned Alaska Native artist Michael Webber.
